Welcome to the USS Saturn

Rules and Guidelines

Bravofleet Rules
Here are the rules in a nutshell.
1. Your Character must be original, and not an established Star Trek Character (i.e. Jean-Luc Picard, Mackenzie Calhoun, Ben Sisko, etc.)

2. Do NOT give yourself a rank and/or past ranks held by your character. The Captain will determine that based on your application.

3. You must post at least once every three weeks, or you will give up your position, unless you make other arrangements. Make sure to tell your CO you're going on vacation! However, the more you post, the more likely you are to be promoted!

4. Make sure you fill out your application completely!!!! Remember, the better the Application, the better the rank.

5. No cursing (beyond damn or hell, etc.). Some people will get offended.

6. No overly sexually posts. Remember, we do have a few young players and others that will get offended. Kisses, hugs, and the like are fine, but sex and the details are NOT. Let's keep things in good taste.

7. Do not start the ship on a new mission. The CO of each vessel is responsible for that. Doing so will inevitably cause a story split. If you have a mission idea, send it to your CO. We cannot emphasise this enough.

8. This is in the STAR TREK (copyright of paramount) universe!!! Triple-sized Nebula-Class Starships do not appear and release fighters in the middle of a battle! Sooo, post accordingly. Creativity's great...but don't be ridiculous.

9. Keep in line with the current plot, and try to keep up with where the other characters on the ship are.

10. One player an only have 1 character on any given ship, and a total of 5 in BF. This isn't to limit you, it's so you won't get over loaded and new players have a chance at the 'good' positions.

11. HAVE FUN! This is a game after all! :)

Posting Guidelines
To know when we're actually posting, and making comments in between, we use an ON/OFF format. Everything after an OFF: means that it is a comment, not apart of the story. Everything after an ON: means that it's the actual
post.

Generally, posts start with an OFF:, some comments (if there are no comments, the first OFF: is not needed), then an ON:, then the post, and then another OFF: where there can be more comments. You should sign your post at the very end, after the last OFF:. Signing your post is simply writing your name, rank, position, and ship. Like this:

Commodore Frank Anon
CO, USS Hood
Bravo Fleet

Thinking, speaking and action writing
Posts are written in a script format. That means, you probably won't be using "said" too often...
When writing an action your character does, enclose it between two * symbols.
i.e. Anon: Aye sir. *hits a few controls, bringing up a readout.* All systems are online.

You may also use a brief paragraph to describe a series of actions that would not include spoken text, but since we try to follow a script style format in this, we keep Dialogue in script style. A paragraph of action would be as follows:

::Garak backs off from Vash but still doesn't want to leave. He wanders into Narrelle's office and looks around. The flowers on her desk from their wedding have wilted but are still pretty. Garak sits in her chair and fidgets with the items around her desk. After a while a nurse peeks around the doorway::

To show tapping a commbadge, the =/\= symbol is often used. You can also use +Tap+ *TAPS* or +TAPS+.
ie. Anon: =/\= Engineering, what is your status?

Locations and time
Locations and time are enclosed between << and >>.
For example:
<<USS Hood, Bridge>> or
<<Later that day, in sickbay>> or
<<USS Odyssey, 0900 hours>> etc.
You get the point.

A word of warning!!!! You may not decide to change the actions of someone else's character by predating your posts!!! (I.E. You can't decide you really don't want to have dinner with the Ambassador and predate a post sending your character on a shuttle mission off ship! That is destructive to the flow of the story. You CAN write a post that explains why your character cannot remain where they are. For example if Capt. Kazago wanted to escape a formal dinner, but found himself stuck in one he might post that his girlfriend became ill and he had to leave - (who knows, he might even bribe the CMO for something like that! )

And there we have it. Posting format. This information can also be found in the Cadet Initial Training, under Bravo Fleet Academy.
