Biography:
James Young was born on a farm outside of Atlanta, Georgia thirty years ago.  He was the fourth of five children born to Charles and Jane Young.  He was 12 when his older brother Charles Jr. was appointed to the Academy and knew he wanted to go there also one day.  He was an average student in Secondary School, excelling in Science and Baseball, and was appointed to the Academy 3 days past his 18th birthday.

At the Academy he studied Science and was on his way to becoming a Stellar Cartographist, when, for an elective he took Introduction to Security/Tactical, and decided that was the career  he wanted to pursue
in Starfleet.  During his Sr. year he hung out with a circle of friends that included Sophomore Steve Anderson.  He pursued courses in Starship tactics and Security methods, and graduated No. 58 out of 459 in his graduating
class.  He holds a minor in Stellar Cartography.

Upon graduating the Academy, the Ensign was posted to the USS Saratoga, as a Fire Control Officer, in command of Torpedo Bay # 3.  He held this position for 4 years, eventually being promoted to Lt. j.g. and rising to command the Forward torpedo bay on board the "Fighting Sara".  It was during this time he also became involved romantically, with a Saratoga computer specialist Ensign Lisa Maxwell.  They dated for two years and finally, he proposed to her in the Aft Lounge on Starbase 54.  Just after this, he was transferred to the
USS Belleau Wood to serve as Asst. Security/ Tactical Officer.  While in transit to his new ship,  he learned of the Borg attack on the Federation, and the destruction of the Saratoga.  Lisa Maxwell was not among the
survivors.

The next 3 years were a blur for the Lt. j.g. He earned his wings while on the Belleau Wood, and is qualified to fly Raptor fighters if necessary.   He carried on his duties very flawlessly as Asst. Security Chief.  He still
carries much hatred towards the Borg, and  a love for Burbon.  After a while he made Lt., and Security Chief, but was demoted back after he got into a bar brawl on Starbase 68.  His papers read "for conduct unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman"

In less than a month the USS Belleau Wood will be decommissioned, and her crew scattered among other ships of the fleet.  So a week ago Lt. j.g. Young received orders to report to Starbase 14 for a new assignment aboard the Ambassador Class Ship, the USS Saturn.  His old friend Steve Anderson's new command.
