Drakir is extremely self-assured, as is typical with most Romulans.
He does have an atypical respect for other species, namely those aligned
with the Federation. He treats missions like chess games, with each
species encountered as another piece on the game board.
Classified by the Romulan Star Empire, although he has mentioned a sister
on occasion.
Drakir excelled in primary school and was taken at age 11 to train for
the Diplomatic Corp in the Capitol City. He studied many subjects
in addition to his diplomatic courses, and showed a talent for solo-fighter
pilot training. At age 20, Drakir graduated and began work as assistant
to Ambassador Boosbaka, a venerated Romulan Officer. As assistant,
Drakir coordinated task forces to accompany the Ambassador on missions.
Here, Drakir showed a fine talent for tactical planning. In 2369,
Drakir was accompanying Boosbaka on a mission when unknown lifeforms took
up habitation in the ship's Artificial Micro-Singularity Core. All
officers aboard were eventually evacuated to the USS Enterprise-D, where
Drakir met many of that ship's officers. He notes being especially
intrigued by the Enterprise's Bartender, Guinan. After returning
to Romulus, Drakir became an adjutant to the Federation Ambassador to Romulus.
His duties were to work closely with the Ambassador and be a liason between
her and the Romulan Senate. In 2372, Drakir joined a deep space exploration
mission as the mission's official First Contact Officer and commissioned
with the rank of Subcommander of the Warbird Dlerex. During the initial
months of the mission, the ship encountered a Borg Sphere on a scouting
mission. After a fierce battle, several drones were beamed aboard
the Dlerex and Drakir was assimilated into the collective. The Sphere's
Transwarp Coil was severely damaged in the battle and the Borg held position
to make repairs. During that time, a force of three Griffen-Class
vessels were dispatched to rescue the crew of the Dlerex. The Romulan
force overwhelmed the damaged Sphere and rescued their comrades.
Drakir and the rest of the assimilated crew of the Dlerex were severed
from the collective and brought back to Romulus to recuperate. After
two years of counseling, Drakir regained his memories and skills enough
to return to work. He also retained much of the knowledge gained
from the Collective, by way of the unique qualities of the Vulcan/Romulan
brain patterns. In 2375, Drakir was sent to Deep Space Nine as part
of Senator Cretak's team. His duties there included coordination
of the Romulan fleet with it's Federation and Klingon allies. Drakir
notes his admiration for the station's acting commanding officer, Colonel
Kira Nerys and logged an official protest to the incident involving the
Bajoran moon, Derna. As the war raged on, Drakir was drafted into
military service as Subcommander of the Warbird Vorex. That ship
served as flight leader of the third wing under the Romulan Flagship.
During the final battle of the Dominion War, the ship's Commander was killed
and Drakir assumed command and led the ship in the assault of Cardassia
Prime. Drakir took command of the Romulan fleet after the Flagship
was destroyed and was one of the officers present on DS9 at the Dominion's
official surrender. Following the war, Drakir remained on DS9 as
the official liason officer between the Romulan Star Empire and the Federation.
In 2378, the Romulan Senate made an official request to assign Ambassador
Drakir to a Starfleet vessel to serve as Diplomatic Officer and to facilitate
a cultural exchange between the two governments.
As of now, an official application has been sent to Steven Anderson,
commanding officer of the USS Saturn for placement as the ship's Chief
Diplomatic Officer.
